| Metallurgical Technician - Posted 5.1.2008 - Apply for this position | SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Hurst Metallurgical Research Laboratory, Inc. has an immediate need for a full-time Metallurgical Technician. The laboratory operates in a positive atmosphere and develops a person's potential according to their willingness to learn and work hard to accomplish all assigned tasks. The position calls for a self-starter who is able to multi-task and pay close attention to detail.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Receiving and documentation of incoming test specimens
- Communication with customers concerning job requirements and job status
- Welding Inspection and Weld Qualification Testing
- Rockwell, Brinell and Knoop/Vickers Hardness Testing
- Mechanical testing using equipment such as tensile machine, Charpy impact
tester, welding gages, scales, calipers and micrometers
- Analysis of test results to verify compliance to the applicable industry standards such as ASME, AWS, API, ASTM and AMS
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a metallurgical testing laboratory
- Associate's degree in welding technology, engineering or science related field, or 2 years of college education
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be mechanically inclined, and capable of using cutting tools
- Machine shop experience desired
- Must demonstrate a sincere interest in the metallurgical testing field
- Welding skills and experience in use of Optical Emission Spectrograph desirable
- Strong computer skills
